It annoys me that in every fresh image I have to set my author name and email again. Loading them from ~/.gitconfig would spare me some typing effort.
It probably makes sense to ask for a confirmation before the settings from the file are adopted into an image, so that users are not surprised why Squeak knows their name already, and can easily choose another identity if they like.
