Hi, I'm french if you need help to translate something let me know (but i'm a noob in github you'll have to teach me how to help you)

Second point: not about adding a mouse controller on Android but to translate all games: IS it possible to use AI in ppsspp? That could open the possibility to translate in Real Time games only avaible in japanese or english to the others langages !!!! Huge !!

hrydgard commented 9 months ago

If you want to help out, there are a lot of untranslated strings in the french translation:

https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/blob/master/assets/lang/fr_FR.ini

Feel free to send me the updated copy in any way you want, you can submit a PR, use githubs built-in editor to make a PR, email it to hrydgard+ppsspp@gmail.com or you simply zip it up and drag it into a new post in this thread.

As for AI in PPSSPP, a better texture upscaler is probably the most interesting use case, along with text OCR and translation, although due to text scrolling in games and so on, such autotranslation is unlikely to ever be really good.

For the second point: You probably want something like this https://github.com/killkimno/MORT Sample video: https://youtu.be/LHTErVnsaws

But yeah, manual translation should be better than auto-translation, cleaner and neater.

Edit: i did a quick test of MORT on PPSSPP Window but it doesn't works well, unfortunately (i'm not even sure why it translate Japanese to Korean even when i already set it to English >.< may be i need the Japanese language pack installed too) image

Edit2: After adding Japanese language on Windows, it finally showed better output, but unable to recognize some custom font styles image

Okay team. Good Idea textures modification with AI !

After looking at your file to translate, it looks like the french guy who translated lines didn't translated all because of UI lisibility. French langage uses long words and sentences, also if I don't know the precise context : one word Can have a lot of translation. So it's better to let it to your french partners.

To them: Salut les français, bravo pour votre ppsspp, c'est du beau boulot. Il serait super bien que vous puissiez ajouter entre parenthèses plus de détails sur les actions possibles des options, plus ludique comme approche pour les néophytes. Merci et encore bravo !

in some games almost all the text can be translated into another language by changing the texture.

for example: sub 0001

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3 GachiTora! Abarenbou Kyoushi in High School Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3: Kowareyuku Machi to Kanojo no Uta Machi-Ing Maker 3 x Tousouchuu Higurashi Daybreak Portable Mega Edition tenchu San Tenchu kurenai zwei Gurumin and many more that I forgot.

The only drawback is that can't change the subtitles in video.pmf

Is it possible in the future to replace pmf with MP4 like Texture?

Is it possible in the future to replace pmf with MP4 like Texture?

This could be done. It won't work for some cases (iirc, for example Patapon manually repeats a segment of the video at some point.) It might have to be exactly the same frame count, and there'd likely be lots of gotchas. But generally it could behave a lot like regular replacements.

Performance might be another challenge. Already, replacement textures async load and can cause problems on mobile when even a little large. It'd probably be necessary to hook into hardware decoders etc. for any well-upscaled video replacements to perform well on mobile. I'm not confident our compile of FFmpeg does this well, I think the hardware decoders might even be disabled.

So, possible but complicated.
