Projects & Sister Wikis!
A bunch of folk from the awesome Homestuck community and beyond have worked the HSMusic dataset into their own projects! We've gathered up the ones we know of — do let us know if you've created something with our data and would like to see it here, too!
- The Unofficial Homestuck Collection — This is easily the best way to read Homestuck! This collection includes tons of extras that are integrated very neatly into the main comic-reading experience, including a whole section for the official discography, a remix of the official Bandcamp which reveals tracks as you encounter them in the comic.
- Homestuck Heardle — Guess the Homestuck track! It's like Heardle, which is Wordle but for music... but for Homestuck! For each guess, a little more of the song is revealed. If you weren't quite right, you get feedback on how close you were in terms of album, artists, and character themes!
- Homestuck Motifle — Guess the Homestuck leitmotifs! This game builds off "referenced tracks" data, and has a scoring system where motifs of rarer obscurity count for more points. Listen to a whole track through and guess the melodies and musical references; you'll really show off your leitmotif knowledge!
Several sister wikis have popped up, too! These are built from the ground up using their own totally unique databases and the same wiki engine as HSMusic, each wiki specializing on its own select media or scene, like we do Homestuck over here. Check 'em out!

If you're interested in starting your own wiki and are raring to get your hands on some data files, you'll find a thorough introduction in the Starting Your Own Wiki documentation. You're also much encouraged to pass by the HSMusic Community Discord Server, where a bunch of friendly data denizens and code wranglers are happy to help out if you'd like some guidance or troubleshooting tips!
Some notes and specific points that could use work:
- We should fill out an introductory README for this repository as well, and link the main documentation from there once it's ready, of course!
- The "sister wikis" part is lower down because I felt it fit the flow of the page better, but if you'd like to give it ago, I wouldn't mind help reordering it so it's are above the related-projects part. It might work best just by flat-out dividing them into separate titled sections, since I want that "if you want to start your own wiki..." to really work as a jump-off, "ooo, yes, I DO want to start my own wiki!" point.
- We could mention welcoming contributions to the data end of this wiki while we're at it LMAO
- "Starting Your Own Wiki" is a placeholder name and would refer to a specific page within the main documentation, since that's presumably a perspective audience we'd like to write a quick explainer/introduction targeting.
- It's probably worth mentioning, in the Heardle and Motifle sections, that the current track is shared all around the world, so that you can compare scores with your friends, and updates every [insert update frequency here], so that there's always a new challenge. But I couldn't figure out how to word that nicely into these descriptions lol. It's kind of standard knowledge regarding Wordle-alikes, but I don't know if the bulk of the internet are still familiar with Wordle anymore.
- I think the Unofficial Homestuck Collection part is pretty good. The goal with my descriptions here is to both introduce the project, in case you're discovering it for the first time, and explain how it makes use of the data from the wiki. Preferably, synergizing those two parts so they flow naturally.
