• Top-level chunk titles represent the sum of all chunked items, including e.g. "Official Discography only". Interacting a chunk's title is a shortcut for interacting with all chunked items at once; a chunk's title does not carry any other "magic" or special dynamics.
  • Clicking to highlight "Fandom" would automatically highlight "Homestuck Gaiden" and "Unofficial MSPA Fans".
  • Clicking to highlight "Homestuck Gaiden" and "Unofficial MSPA Fans" individually would automatically highlight "Fandom".
  • Clicking to un-highlight "Jamie Paige", when all the rest of "Beyond" is already highlighted, would automatically un-highlight "Beyond".
  • Clicking to highlight a title always highlights all items. Clicking to un-highlight a title (which is only possible when all items are highlighted) always un-highlights all items, and does not restore the state before the title was clicked-to-highlight (if applicable)—clicking the title is always a destructive action. This is on purpose!
• As in the mockup, we'd like to represent highlighted groups in bold and underline, and un-highlighted groups with a slight dimness. However, we probably don't want to dim-out the chunk titles, even when not all items are selected. Maybe dim the date range but not the title—we want to indicate that the chunk is at least partially represented, and dimness suggests it isn't represented at all. But the full date range isn't, so that can be dimmed, while the main link is left in normal-brightness (no underline, no bold).
• When any filter is active, regardless the sort, we'd like to change the "Sorting by (sort)." button to instead be "Click to stop filtering." or a similarly phrased message. It doesn't really make sense to change sort while filtering (and changing from a chunked to a non-chunked sort would certainly be trouble), and avoids interaction noise, while giving a convenient exit/cancel action.
