Here's a clean application of these commits on the latest from master.

I'm not sure why the Travic-CI tests failed so wildly, you can ignore that. But there does need to be tests for this code before we can merge it.

Added a (passing) spec for StatHat notifications. Running specs locally results in the same failures as on the Travis CI build. Seems to be due to an environment variable not being set, but I'm not seeing what in these commits could cause that - it's a pretty minuscule pull request.
