Documentation improvements #102

Some minor improvements to the readme and release files, e.g. consistent use of capitalization and some rewording for easier reading.

Also, using the dark or dark-dimmed themes (see https://github.com/settings/appearance), the black text in the figure is hard to read. Maybe the font color could be changed here?
