Complex browse & filter data

Need:

• Use portal interface to explain preliminary results in the next grant proposal.
• Build table of summarized metadata and summary statistics from each dataset of a specific data type (e.g. RNA-seq)

User Scenario:

1. Have preliminary data from other studies about a biomarker of interest and want to know what additional information is available from datasets.
2. Access portal and searches for data from a specific organ (e.g. brain), filter results to those studies that used a specified data type (e.g. RNA-seq) for datasets of a specific anatomical area (e.g. cerebral cortex).
3. Initial Search Results: find information about gene expression in the anatomical region
4. Follow links to confirm a gene is expressed in that region.
5. Follow links to HuBMAP datasets to examine gene expression and other genes in finer details to find any relevant conclusions. (e.g. GeneX is exclusively expressed in Cajal-Retzius cells in the cerebral cortex)
6. Notes additional data types available, number of participants and age ranges and consent data for the relevant studies. Request access to program page for each dataset and requests access to the ones that fit their needs.

Current Status:

• Regular faceted search interface can identify datasets for a specific data type and organ.
• Molecular & Cell search interface will be in beta testing soon for searches relevant to gene/protein. More need to be added to this interface, however, to be more useful for users.
