I'm really excited by Quarto and I think this manuscript would be a nice opportunity for you to explore it too!
There's a bunch of great features inspired by bookdown but included much more seamlessly that make scientific authoring and publishing much easier. See for example the following odcs on:
@annakrystalli quarto sounds like it could be useful. But before switching over for this paper (since we're almost done), a few questions come to mind:
Will the quarto styling options end up making our lives easier when formatting for a journal submission?
Is there an easy way to go from rmd to qmd syntax?
Are there any other pros/cons that you are aware of?
