Sipdroid indicator stays red (timeout) when wifi gets turned off when connected, and notification light blinks red #86

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use sipdroid with wifi (Edge turned off in settings)
2. Turn off device wifi

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The "green light" should disappear.
Instead, it becomes red (with timeout error) and the notification light
blinks red until notification is manually read.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0.2, official cupcake release on ADP1

Please provide any additional information below.
Issue introduced in release 1.0.2

Sipdroid tries to unregister which fails. What server are you using?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I am using pbxes.org
Of course it fails unregistering since I turned off WiFi so it has no
connection
even to do that action

Sipdroid unregisters over mobile data network (although turned off in Sipdroid
settings). Do you have any mobile data connection?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
My mobile data network APN is disabled most of the time to ensure that I do not
exceed my quota. So, in fact, mostly when I turn off the wifi - sipdroid has no
connection at all.

This issue remains in 1.0.4 - earlier versions did not have this problem.

A simple workaround is to simply disable and reenable "Use WLAN" in the
Sipdroid settings; after I do that, the
red dot and LED disappear.

I think the solution for this, is for Sipdroid to check if there is an active
network before declaring timeout. If there isn't any it needs to close itself
instead of notifying timeout

sipdroid should try to reconnect immediately after a timeout (and keep
trying)...
sometimes it takes ages to reconnect after a timeout even if you have data
connectivity.

The problem is the opposite; I don't want sipdroid to connect *at all* when
Wi-Fi is disabled.

Agree: if there's no data connectivity, it should not try to connect at all,
but if
there's connection, it should try straight away, which currently is not the
case as it
tends to take too long to try again.

This is a very simple issue to fix, why so long?

As others have pointed out I also don't stay connected to 3G or Wi-Fi and I
have
the "Siproid, when available" option so I'd rather have more choice in the LED
color
or whether its used at all. I certainly don't want red...

Sipdroid is shutting down when the phone goes in standby mode (no green dot
after returning from sta
dby, Sipdroid has to be restarted manually).
My settings are: Wifi always on, Sipdroid controls standby settings, Sipdroid
should use Wifi only.

This bug is really annoying because I cannot be called through Voip due to this.

Sipdroid version: 1.3.12
Android: 2.0.1
PBXes: not in use, direct connection to sipgate (using sipgate STUN-server)

I confirm, my HTC Desire blinks (show screen for a half of a second) when
sipdroid looses connection to the server and reconnects. It's annoying.

I missing something?
