What steps will reproduce the problem?
there's no hard problem, it's just that the copy&paste rubs me the wrong way.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.
I contemplated using a single mkdir call with all the directories but SUSv3
is careful to avoid stating whether the command short-circuits execution on
first failure or not, hence the loop.
