Detailed description:
An uninitialized MapWidget defaults to Atlanta, GA zoomed in.

While I am quite fond of the place, it would probably be more generally
relevant if the map started out with the entire world map in view, centered
on the Equator and Prime Meridian.

Workaround if you have one:
set the center and zoom level of the map upon initialization.
