Need unittest for verifying LIB_DIR and SHARED_LIB_DIR expand correctly. #101

Recently, on the make build, LIB_DIR stopped pointing to the location that 
the shared libraries were put in.  This did not get caught.

There should probably be a test for this.  Same thing for SHARED_LIB_DIR.
