Testing the existing WordPress Importer #37

Hi

I am testing the existing the official WordPress repo Importer plugin. The site is a heavy image intensive WP tutorial site. http://easywebdesigntutorials.com/

I installed the plugins and the theme I needed locally. Exported all content from the existing online site.

What was imported:

*I think all of it was imported - from a quick glance it seems all of the above works.

What was not Imported and I had to manually reassign.

I am looking forward to an UI with this new Importer project so that I can test it out. I also would like to write about it for an existing somewhat slim article I have in regards to the Importer and Exporter. As it would also be a way for people to test it out and come aboard here for testing and helping out. Thanks.

There are a couple of plugins that can be used for importing options, widgets.

I found good use for them recently when exporting from a WPMS site and importing into a single site, and I couldn't export / import the whole database. It would be nice if WordPress Importer v2 could import selected options and/or widgets.

Looks like Joe Hoyle's menu exporter plugin is no longer necessary.

Thanks for the headsup Bobbingwide!

I just posted in the support forum for widget-importer-exporter asking if the developer could add theme options etc into his/her plugin. I also mentioned the new WP importer project.

Btw I came across another plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-settings-importexport/ https://github.com/voceconnect/widget-data The plugin has a nice and simple ui for exporting and importing widgets. Giving the user the chance to check mark which widgets to export/import.
