As, the new Importer is faster, less memory spend etc, maybe start to integrate things like Widgets Customizer Settings Theme Framework Settings

which is possible through other 3rd party plugins?

Just a suggestion, open for discussion

This kind of plugin already exists: https://wordpress.org/plugins/one-click-demo-import/ :)

It also uses this new importer for the content import.
