Roborock core integration #650

Hello all,

I'm not here to request anything related to this integration since I understand the dev has migrated his attention to the core integration. But after comparing the 2 there are 2 mais issues tha arrise.

1. This integration

Pros:

  • The map is generated through a camera entity, which allows you to use the "Lovelace Vacuum Map card" (this is why, in my opinion this integration is better than the core one).

Cons:

  • Updated and fixes very limited;
  • Highly incompatible with new models;
  • Need other integrations in order to be up to date.

2. The core integration

Pros:

  • Highly maintained by the devs;
  • New models are almost instantly compatible;
  • No need for a 3rd party integrations to maintain the app up to date automatically (like HACS)

Cons:

  • The map is generated using a imnage entity, which automaticaly inpeeds you from using "Lovelace Vacuum Map card" at it's highest potential.

My fix ideal solution would be to, if possible, to merge the 2 integrations into 1, making the core version absolutely incredible, making sure we can get access to the map through a camera entity, since that gives you more flexibility when using a Map Card.

Edit: I also have been testing out the core integration and it is a little bit unstable, spiting out logs of lost connection with the vaccum for short periods of time.

The limitation is not that it is a image instead of a camera. It is that we have to get data to The map card in a different way.

Pitor is working on it, but he manages a lot of integrations and cards, so he is very busy, but once the support is there and things are changed like he is planning, I will be trying to get it supported in Core.

One feature that I'm currently missing in the core integration is the current room sensor, I found it quite useful for checking if a certain room that doesn't automatically gets cleaned is being cleaned.

Yes camera entity is a great loss on the core integration. I have to switch to the core one because this integration can't connect to Roborock cloud since fews days....
