Perhaps we could add an indication in the location of the snippet?
This could be of help, at least for newbies!
And also here
By the way: I see that custom snippets are available only in "dashbords". Is there a way to use them in other pages (ex: "about" page)
I understand that the word "Snippet" makes sense if you only use the HH core functionnalities (Members list, most active users, list of spaces, last publications, etc...,). but in the Custom Pages Module you can use them in many different and various ways: news slideshow, welcome message, advertissements, warnings, images slideshow, etc,. The only common thing is that they will be located in dashboard sidebar. In custom Pages I also use the so called "snippets" to add javascript in the page (ex: to easily make the space banner a slideshow). So, I would also suggest the word 'Widget", (refer to Wordpress).
"Snippet" == "a small piece or brief extract." In french translation: "Snippet" == "Extrait", and back to english: "Extrait"== "Extract" Perfect ! But also very confusing.
When I was in the learning curve of HH Custom Pages it took me a while to understand that in fact the real thing was: Snippet == "sidebar panel" In french translation: "sidebar panel" == "panneau latéral", And this is much more precise and clear.
As far a I know, a HH "snippet":
So, instead of "snippet" I would suggest to use "sidebar panel" or "sidebar element" or "sidebar block", or any thing else that would be less abstract!
