Assistance setting up Android App? #8

Hiya!

Would you consider helping me make an android app for my friends to receive push notifications? No other functionality required. Just authenticating the user, and sending their HumHub notifications from my site.

I would be happy to pay a fee for your time. Please let me know if you are interested and we can discuss.

I have FCM setup and sending test notifications to a (blank) test app already, and the Humhub module configured with my Firebase API details.

If not, I will continue reading around and struggling to do it myself haha.

Did you manage to set up such an app? I also need something to display push notifications from humhub on Android, but i am no java developer. Yours Gerd

I didn't unfortunately.

I got the firebase notifications working, and just added the PWA to my homescreen.

In chrome, 3 dot menu -> Add to home screen. This behaves somewhat like an app.

Then, if you make sure chrome notifications are enabled and your site has notifications enabled, you can receive mobile push notifications via chrome and the firebase plugin.

Unfortunately, this wasn't close enough to the native App and notification my friends are used to, so uptake has been pretty non-existent. But it was a fun experiment.

It's incredible how lazy and inflexible people can be haha.
