Hi Paul, I have asked you about this before. Can we replace these fans with the window AC units? If they are too much vibration, can we provide some kind of support to reduce the vibration?

PaulTran54 commented 6 years ago

It will be more complicated now because of the heating system. We need a complete seal window in the winter and good ventilation in the summer

hungple commented 6 years ago

Maybe we can build something to seal the windows during the winter time. If we can replace them with window AC units, I know it won't cool down the whole church during the summer but at least we can run them before each mass for a couple of hours, and it should cool down the church a little bit. I think if we have about $2K, we should try this to see if this cheap solution works.

PaulTran54 commented 6 years ago

Yes I think it can be done.

  1. Install 8 sliding windows (up/down) direction for winter (close), summer(open).
  2. Replace current 8 fans with smaller floor fans using the existing structure.
hungple commented 6 years ago

Well, if we replace with AC units, we don't need to install windows to seal the air. I don't know the price for one unit for now, but it may cost around $250 for each.

PaulTran54 commented 6 years ago

AC= air conditioning?

hungple commented 6 years ago

Yes. AC= air conditioning

PaulTran54 commented 6 years ago

Do we need to request for permission from Diocese of San Jose to install AC units ?

Thien2018 commented 6 years ago

AC required dedicated circuits. I don't think our current electrical setup is meant for AC's. Electrical work would trigger inspections, and permit be pulled. If we required electrical work, the cost will be much higher.

hungple commented 6 years ago

It will be hard to get permission from Diocese of San Jose. I think if we just get window AC units which do not require extra electrical setup. We need to check how many amps the circuit can provide.

PaulTran54 commented 6 years ago

I guess we need to access to circuit breaker panel locate at South West corner of the church where the door was damaged by wheather. If we replace these two doors at that time we able to check the ampere rate of current 8 fans.

hungple commented 6 years ago

Just remove the outside part to solve the bird dropping issue.

Action:

  1. Review with diocese along with #3.
