The dates are in two different formats in the annual and perennial datasets; there are numbers like 1998 and month.year in words, not numbers (Mar.05). I tried a variety of as.Date commands but R is not recognizing "Mar"/"Dec"/etc as dates. I am not going to combine the datasets until years are in the same format. Is there a command besides as.Date I can try to get years in the same format?
