Also many other widgets (Gmail, Yahoo News) can be set at a big size, and there
is no resizing when locking the phone...
For some strange reasons, only your widget seems to resize after a lock and
unlock screen...

Just tried this widget on my Galaxy Nexus with stock Android 4.2 - And it
collapsed too.
Perhaps Samsung S4 is capable to show expanded widget, but unfortunately I
don't have S4 to test it.
I can look into it, but it required your help with testing it.

Are you sure that the other widgets aren't placed on the secondary widget slots
(swipe right)
If you put NiLS as a secondary lock screen widget - it will always be full
size.

You are abolutely right, it was on the "home" slot, and now, i have moved it to
the left, and the widget is full size.
The problem now arising is that when pressing the main button for unlocking the
phone will bring me to that "home slot" and i will then have to swipe right
each time.
Is there a way to force the phone to unlock on a secondary widget slot ?

Not that I'm aware of.
I'm using lock screen widget for long time since Android 4.2 was introduced and
I don't think it's possible.
I think that the reason it always collapsed its to prevent clicking by mistake
when the device is not used. (when the widget is expanded every click on it
immediately unlock the device without requiring to slide the lock icon)
WidgetLocker can help you solve this issue, but it's a paid app - not
affiliated with me.

many thanks, i have kept a shrinkable version of the widget on home, and a full
size one on a secondary widget slot, that works fine for me.
