turn off proximity sensor when screen is on #244

Would it be possible to make an option to turn of the proximity sensor when the
screen is on?

I think it's a waste of battery life to let it on all the time.
(I know, the sensor only reports on changes and don't know if it is accurate if
the sensor is off when the screen is on)

Any thoughts?

the precentage of the time that the screen is on is negligible compared to the
time the device is on standby, so I don't see how it helps.
how do you know that the proximity sensor is so battery intensive? my device
doesn't show any signs of battery drain because of the proximity sensor.

As soon as I turn on the proximity sensor, the battery use of "android is" goes
higher then my display...
If I turn it off display is higher.

won't be implemented. most of the devices don't suffer from battery drain from
proximity sensor.
if you have issues - simple disable proximity sensor in settings.
sorry.
