DIYLC keeps crashing on mac OSX 10.6.8

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Attempting any changes to my project
2.as soon as I try something as simple as moving one end of a wire for example 
the programme will crash
3.I have tried changing the sizeof the Java heap as suggested in some threads 
but this has made no difference

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Whenever possible, please attach the latest log file. It will
provide valuable information when trying to reproduce and locate the
problem. Log files can be found in the log directory under the main
application directory and are marked with date and time.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
This problem happens with various different versions of the software.  I have 
tried 3.0.9 to 3.7.0.
I am running mac OSX 10.6.8 and have experienced the same problem on two 
different machines.  one is an iMac 2.16 intel Core 2 Duo.  The other a macbook 
Pro 2.4 Intel Core 2 Duo
Both are running the latest version of Java 1.6.0_31
