Creating new components requires some Java programming ability, which I do not 
possess. So it seems my only option (other than waiting for a newer version 
with more components) is to use a different component as a "stand in" or add 
some text to indicate the missing component.

If a GUI-driven custom component creator is not in the offing, a nice 
compromise would be to add a few simple drawing primitives (rectangle, circle, 
line, etc) that non-programmers can use in their layouts to fill in the missing 
gaps.
