duplication of sametime users #14

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
* What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.install pidgin 2.6.5
2.configure and connect to one jabber/xmpp account configured for usage of
a msn gateway -> download users list from msn server
3.configure and connect to one sametime account -> download users list
4.install and activate pidgin-privacy-please
5.configure pidgin-privacy-please to block nothing except msn system
messages
6.restart pidgin

* What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
upon reception of incoming message from a sametime contact, pidgin will
actually create a duplicate contact, which will be seen as offline, making
it impossible for the user to reply.

* What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
pidgin 2.6.5 - windows xp sp2

Hey,

Ae you sure this is related to privacy-please? Does it work as expected if you
disable the plugin?

I can't reproduce it myself since, before I read this, I never even heard of
this 'sametime' thing :)

Hi,

yes I actually made sure this issue was related to privacy-please before
posting.
so problem instantly disappears when I deactivate or uninstall it.

sametime is IBM's instant-messaging system, comes with Lotus Notes.. mainly
used in large corporations

Hrm, sucks, I was hoping to sneak my way out of this one :)

Does the problem go away if you *don't* block msn system messages?

yup, I noticed your attempt ;) don't worry, I work in software engineering, I
would have tried the same ;)
I'll have to try and see what happens if I do not block msn messages...
the thing is I really had a bad time recovering my contacts last time, so I
need to think of how I can try this on a minimum install...

Hey

Just curious, have you had a chance to investigate this any further?
