ICQ athorisation denied spam #27

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Recently I started to get "Authorisation denied" ICQ spam messages from random
users not in my contact list. Currently all ICQ authorisation requests are
disabled in plugin settings, but unsolicited deny replies still come through,
leading to annoying popup window. Is it possible to block them?

I'm using pidgin-2.8.0 and pidgin-privacy-please from trunk.

Hi

Could you please verify whether this still happens with the current version of
pidgin and pidgin-privacy-please?

Also, sorry for the delay.

I switched to OS X and Adium, but I can leave my Linux machine on for several
days to catch these unwanted messages. Can not guarantee reproducibility
though, because it depends on spammers activity. It will be helpful if you know
a way to trigger this message using another ICQ account.

Anyway, I will report back in a few days.

Awesome, thanks. I will try to find a way to trigger the messages but so far I
failed. I haven't been using ICQ a lot lately, guess I should turn it on if I'm
writing a plugin like this one :)

Patch to pidgin (unaccepted): http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/14686

Also it looks like ability to send auth deny messages was fixed server-side
some time ago: http://iicq.ru/news/spam-authorization/ (russian citation of ICQ
representative).

It looks like the issue has been fixed either server-side or in
pidgin/libpurple. For last six days my open pidgin instance received no
unwanted messages, so I think this ticket can be closed.

Great, thanks for investigating. I'll mark it as invalid since it wasn't really
an issue with the plugin.
