Can one of the admins verify this patch?

jourdain commented 4 days ago

Who should we add as admin? The current admins don't work on that project anymore. @wh3248?

Sebastien,

If you are ok, we can add me as an admin (I tried to add my myself to see if I had rights and I did. So now I’m an admin of the SandTank repo). I am wh3248 (Bill Hasling) and I am an RSE working in Reed Maxwell’s group in Princeton.

  1. We are aware of the repo with the trame version of SandTank. I tried to build Sandtank from the trame repo, but I could not get it to work and it was harder for me to understand than the original SandTank repo. Also, it seems like the education team is used to the original SandTank UI look and feel. Since the trame version is a separate repo we always have the option in the future to figure out how to build the trame version to deploy that version with a different port and URL under *.hydroframe.org.
  2. We have a CI/CD Jenkins job in Princeton that builds a docker image of a test version from a pull request (like the one I just created). This worked and we can deploy SandTank on our poudre.princeton.edu server that runs many of our other Hydrology apps and exposes Sandtank now as “sandtank.hydroframe.org”. It is convenient for us to deploy with a docker image so we don’t collide with versions of EcoSlim, Parflow, NPM and paraview running with other apps on that same server.
  3. I noticed that there are a whole lot of other pull requests outstanding on Sandtank before mine. These are all updates to package.json and package-lock.json that were added by dependabot. Probably I can test and deploy these dependency pull requests before I merge my PR to master. It seems like a good idea and probably unlikely to break anything.
