Describe the content

I would like to see the colors for the hypersexual flag added.

Additional context

I know some people might wrinkle their nose about this, but most hypers are the way they are due to trauma, I'm one of them, and I believe we shouldn't be ashamed of the way we are. Thank you for your time :)

That wiki appears to have been created and written by a single person, and this request comes from someone with no recent activity, no repositories, no starred repos, and a blank profile. I am concerned that this may be a troll request.

moeraccoon commented 2 months ago

I can see where holyspiritomb is coming from, I didn't really check the wiki much, I just googled the flag and found that one.

However, being hypersexual is as valid as being asexual. Most of us, like myself, struggle with it after suffering sexual abuse.

It's not about being a horndog, it's about not feeling shame for being the way we are after surviving sexual assault.

EDIT: I don't use github much, it's only to receive assistance with issues I have with some programs.

I appreciate the request, but the hypersexuality pride flag is very controversial and requires careful consideration.

Including the flag might help foster awareness and destigmatize hypersexuality, especially for people like @moeraccoon who see it as an important part of their identity despite that it might be challenging to live with.

However, many hypersexual individuals don't feel that it's something they're proud of, and there is heavy debate in the hypersexual community on whether it should be viewed as an identity or a medical condition. (e.g. a heavily upvoted reddit post by a hypersexual individual who feels that hypersexuality is impairing their life and not something they're proud of Link | Archive)

I want to be as inclusive as possible, but being inclusive doesn't always mean accepting all pride flags on every wiki page. I honestly don't know whether the hypersexual community would see the inclusion of this flag as helpful or offending, and I don't know enough about them to make the decision, so I think the best way forward is for me to create a post in the hypersexual reddit for opinions.

Fair enough. I must confess some degree of bitterness when I see asexuality as something accepted widely while when it comes to us it's stigmatized. Sorry for the short frustrated vent. I understand your point and won't pry any further...

If you dont want to wait for the commit to be pushed (prolly will take some time due to all the hypersexuality pride thing that honestly idgaf i just want to help) you can use hyfetch with the commit I made (the hypersexuality flag) by installing it this way:

git clone https://github.com/ImxTreme21/hyfetch.git cd hyfetch pip install .

If something doesnt work please refer to the install instructions.

Okay it's been a week since I posted the reddit post asking for people's opinions. (Thanks for everyone who responded!)

We've collected 79 comments in total. I've categorized the comments using GPT-4o into three categories: support, oppose, and neutral, and counted each of them with respect to the number of upvotes. From the results, we can see that there is still heavy debate on whether this flag should be included within the hypersexual community, but the majority opinion leans toward not adding the flag. So I will close the issue as not planned for now.

In the current stage, hypersexuality is classified as a mental disorder, as a type of compulsive thought or behavior like OCD. Many HS individuals argue that it is an illness they want to treat (and is treatable) through therapy and medication, and framing it as a personal trait or identity like sexual orientations or gender identities might discourage people from seeking help. This classification might change in the future, and I will be happy to add the flag when the HS community's opinion change.

Attached below is the GPT-4o prompt and some processing examples:

For now, if you want to use the flag, you can use @ImxTreme21's fork.
