I think it would be useful if we worked out a file format first. I propose the following:
[app-name]-[app-version]-[runtime].[ext]
app-name
The application name. Not sure whether this should be syrius
or syrius-alphanet
.app-version
The application version. For example: 0.0.5 or 0.1.0-rc1.runtime
The current runtime identifiers can be shortened and maybe made more specific? I'm not sure whether the Windows, Linux and macOS builds for example works on all x64 versions? Otherwise the OS version should be specified. Microsoft uses a runtime identifier for building .NET applications. Documentation of the format can be found here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/rid-catalog. I believe the format is widely adopted and applicable.ext
The file extension.Examples:
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Syrius releases use the same file names, leading to confusion about which version we're interacting with. Users need to launch Syrius to see which version they're accessing.
