Project Health

• Insights data
  • Various health indicators fluctuated year-over-year that are expected of a maturing project
  • The raw numbers are still impressive:
  • 73 active contributors
  • 214 github forks
  • Top 7 contributors about evenly shared ~54% contribution 👍
  • Average wait time for the 1st review of PR ranged b/w 1-3 days
  • Average lead time for pull requests is ~13 days

Maintainer Diversity

• Consensys still has the lion's share of contributions, at 85%, the next 2 are both single digit (Swirlds Labs 5.6%, Kaleido 1.9%)
• Promising increase in organizations interested in enterprise focused contributions
  • Kaleido (newly minted maintainers in 2023)
  • Web3Labs (active contributors)

Project Adoption

• Would be good to see more information on the adoption in enterprise use cases, where we know Besu is popular along with Fabric, especially in the Financial industry building token based solutions

Goals

• 2023 goals have been completed
• 2024 goals have been defined. Would be good to see goals from other organizations besides Consensys represented

Help Required

• The report doesn't list any help needed. But from the rest of the report it looks like there is a need to continue to increase the maintainer diversity on the project, which is a common theme with many other projects.

Project Lifecycle Stage Recommendation

• Project recommends remaining in the graduated stage. Concur with this recommendation.

To add to what Jim said, and according to LF insights:

• Overall contributions of last year compared to previous time is still steady :+1:
• A high amount of issues (~ 1k) and pull requests (~ 1k) were opened last year, which shows both great community participation and development progress. :+1:
• High number of comments per PR, which points at good review/discussion. :+1:
• Very low number (less than 50 over last year) of messages in the mailing list. :-1:
