Cosmos is an ecosystem of independent blochains, employing BFT consensus, for the quick and secure exchange of assets. In the Cosmos spectrum, blockchains are known as Zones.
All these Zones are connected by a protocol called IBC (Interblockchain Communication)
The first zone in the ecosystem is called Cosmos Hub. The transactions between blockchains goes through Cosmos Hub.
Hub keeps track of latest block commits of zones, and similarly zones keep up wit the state of Hub. But Zones don't keep up with each other, except indirectly through Hub.
The Cosmos Hub does not verify or execute transactions committed on other zones, so it is the responsibility of users to send tokens to zones that they trust.
