Properly handle circular references in the state

Right now, if the state has any circular references in it, we just have a stack-overflow...

2 ways on how to handle that:

• stop at some level (5 or so), after that, only render on demand when expanded
• somehow detect all objects by keeping a map of references and check.

The first one is probably the easiest for now.
