We want to decide on what to spend our travel / extras bugdet. Please comment in this issue your travel expenses for Dweb Camp and IPFS Conference, separating fees, tickets, acommodation. That way we can see the full landscape and make a strategic decision.

I got word from Dwebcamp organizers saying I'm on the waitlist and they'll have news by May 31st.

According to united.com a roundtrip goes for about 1600 USD. Last year we stayed the nights before and after at the Archive, but I paid my Airbnb out of pocket because I wanted to arrive earlier and leave later. I always ask this when I travel so I can visit. I don't intend DP to pay for the extra days either :P

Hi, I'll mostly be joining as a volunteer, which includes a free camp ticket and accommodation.

My roundtrip flights will cost around 1600 USD.

The IPFS Camp ticket is about $650 and I hope it includes all the taxes - but it's Europe, so one never knows until checkout is finished.

But I'm holding back for now, until you team see if you don't need the money elsewhere? Then let me know. I think I can buy just weeks before, price is not changing any more.

Hey @RangerMauve - we put the travel expenses together in this issue so that we can review the needs and available funds before deciding on a strategy

Just got this:

Our Early Bird prices for Camp tickets ends this FRIDAY May 31 at midnight. Prices will increase starting June 1.

We're doing our best to make DWeb Camp as affordable as possible. However, we have found that inflation has driven up our costs for food, equipment, and staffing and our tickets need to reflect our true cost of $1400 per person.

As always, we'll still be offering sliding scale prices based on income, but the tiers will increase starting this Saturday. So if you're already planning to come, we encourage you to lock-in your plans and get your tickets in the coming days

But I won't know if I need to pay ticket until this Friday

So for now here's the state of things:

We'll check in next week to see if this still makes sense

So for now here's the state of things:

  • We'll cover akhi going one way to dweb camp since he'll try to be in the states for the month for school, pending confirmation
  • We'll cover Petr's IPFS camp ticket so we can get reach to the publishing track
  • We'll cover two way travel for fauno to dweb camp and he'll figure out his ticket

We'll check in next week to see if this still makes sense

Update:

I just checked and found that the most cheapest one-way ticket is approximately 1000 USD. Based on my experience, I believe this price should remain relatively stable and not change drastically in the next two months, as it is the visa season. Many people book flights around this time, which is why the fares appear higher.
