iCloud problem #74

I like icloud sync feature, but it take up too much space in my icloud drive. I add about five epub books in this app, before I open them, the app takes only several Mbit, but when I open two of them ,it takes over three hundred Mbit, and this app's original taken space increaced from no more than 100Mbit to over 200Mbit.

That definitely shouldn't be happening. Let's try this:

  1. Tap More in the tab bar
  2. Tap 'iCloud Syncing'
  3. Tap 'Push to cloud, overwriting cloud'

After syncing completes, the amount of space you see taken up should normalize. Could you try this and let me know if it works?

Tried it but didn't work. My problem ocurred in "iCloud>Storage>Backups>iPhone>Backup Settings", not in "iCloud>Storage>Documents & Data". Wish a good method to fix this.

You may want to try either disabling backup of Hyphen, or removing Hyphen (syncing first, so you can restore later) and installing it again.

Reinstall and only work right before I open an epub file, I have to disable Hyphen's backup setting now, will you fix this problem next version?

The part of the backend that handles this part of things is completely rewritten, so hopefully not. However, I'll have to test for this specifically before release. I haven't been able to quite reproduce it yet.

Recently it seems I found the problem. The following is my experience: I used to copy epub files from goodreader, and they were saved in "Inbox" in Hyphen's Documents. When I deleted all files in "Inbox", they still existed in Hyphen and internal storage decreased sharply. So it is the reason, "Inbox" won't auto delete and you have to delete them in iTunes.

That explains. The new ePub storage/import model is different, so should eliminate this problem... either way, it's good to have a reference to make sure this is handled better going forward. Thanks for the investigative work!
