Feature Request Form

Problem you are trying to address with this feature

HTML and PDFs can be related together if we know the PDF URL. Often publishers stipulate these. meta name="citation_pdf_url" is one extremely commonplace approach.

Your solution

Include citation_pdf_url as one of the tags we automatically associate with the current page URL. For instance, here view-source:http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13317-016-0090-1

This is also documented at https://scholar.google.com/intl/de/scholar/inclusion.html#indexing:

If this page shows only the abstract of the paper and you have the full text in a separate file, e.g., in the PDF format, please specify the locations of all full text versions using citation_pdf_url or DC.identifier tags. The content of the tag is the absolute URL of the PDF file; for security reasons, it must refer to a file in the same subdirectory as the HTML abstract.

@dwhly we now have support for DC identifiers - can we close this issue?

@koppor thanks for chiming in here!
