Hi, thank you for the great teardown!

What is the connection to the media mod via USB type C? I would like to build a direct USB-type C to micro HDMI connector but do not know what is inside the media mod and the protocol they are using.

Thank you. They’re using slimport protocol over two wires on the USB-C. It’s also keyed by a atsha204 chip so you’ll need to crack the 256bit key. There is a cypress CCG2 micro acting as the PD controller too. Basically saying it can’t be done easily. Thanks your for your explanations.

I hoped it is mainly a hardware problem but in this case, I am really not able to do this. Looks like GoPro is foring the customers to buy their accessories. Hopefully other manufactures will reach the Hypersmooth 2.0 qualities soon.
