It would be wonderful if you could make the config files for hypr and hyprland work with each other.

Since the config values are very similar, I actually thought that switching between the two was as simple as making a symlink from my hyprland.conf to my hypr.conf.

No. 90% of features of Hyprland are not available in Hypr.
