Mouse is laggy in game menus #267

Closed NormalFall closed 1 year ago

NormalFall commented 2 years ago

Mouse will run at around 20 fps while the game is running at 100+ fps Issue applies in most fps games outside of Minecraft and CS:GO

note: Trackmania 2020 has this this problem but doesn't have any mouse restraints

vaxerski commented 2 years ago

name a (f2p) game so I can test it, please. Never had that issue.

NormalFall commented 2 years ago

I tested a few f2p games. The issue is related to the GPU being at 100%

A game that could help you test is Chaos on steam.

vaxerski commented 2 years ago

well if the system is at 100% it's obvious it will slow down, no? I'd recommend to disable blur during gaming.

vaxerski commented 2 years ago

try disabling blur, mouse is a CPU thing anyway

NormalFall commented 2 years ago

Found a fix: Have obs open in the background I don't know why it works but it clearly works at stopping the bug from occuring with sea of thieves

no clue. your PC might be haunted.

taylor85345 commented 2 years ago

Maybe also try running your games in gamescope? It's worked wonders for me.

ThatOneCalculator commented 2 years ago

@taylor85345 How do you run a game under gamescope on Hyprland?

taylor85345 commented 2 years ago

I run most of my games out of steam using this Launch Argument

gamescope -ef -H 1080 -- %command%

-e for Steam Integration, -f for Fullscreen, -H 1080 for 1920x1080 window resolution.

For non-steam games, I usually just add them into steam and/or lutris with the same launch arguments.

romanstingler commented 1 year ago

@NormalFall can you still reproduce this without gamescope?

NormalFall commented 1 year ago

Nope it got fixed around 6 months ago. Maybe check is your GPU or CPU hits 100%? I don't remember the issue quite well since its old but i think it was related to that. Also i just noticed that it was only happening to proton games.

If your problem doesn't match up with this you should open a separate issue @romanstingler

romanstingler commented 1 year ago

@NormalFall THX for the reply, I was just looking at old open issues and wanted to know if we can close it. If it doesn't occur anymore, please close it. THX
