Description

Hello new user of Hyprland, loving it so far.

I see red horizontal lines flashing randomly on some programs like kitty or google chrome (mostly on scrolling), or when using a color picker like hyprpicker. Default preferred refresh rate is 120Hz on my laptop, I changed it to 60Hz (see hyrpland conf above) and those annoying lines disappeared. Note that using a screen recorder like wf-recorder made it hard to catch those lines so I used my phone to record a video of the problem.

Happy to provide more informations if needed.

How to reproduce

  1. Open a web browser or kitty
  2. Scroll, move your cursor or better use hyprpicker and observe red horizontal lines

there is also the new 6.10.x amdgpu bug https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=219091 https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=e3615bd198289f319172c428f20857accb46b830 causing wonky things with high refreshrates, worth checking out.

I tried the kernel patch but unfortunately it doesn't fix the problem on my laptop... I will wait for a kernel update with the "fix" integrated, maybe I missed something when patching (first time I do this).

It looks like the workaround provided here is working for me, closing.
