Description

When multiple persistent workspaces are defined, you can only scroll to the workspaces you have visited during the current session. By "scrolling" I mean workspace e+1. Only scrolling is broken in this way - workspace <number> works fine.

How to reproduce

  1. If you have a non-native implementation of persistent workspaces (like in Waybar), disable it.
  2. Define multiple workspaces like this:
    workspace = 1,persistent:true
    workspace = 2,persistent:true
    workspace = 3,persistent:true
    workspace = 4,persistent:true
    workspace = 5,persistent:true
    workspace = 6,persistent:true
  3. Ensure no windows autostart in these workspaces.
  4. Restart Hyprland session, this should automatically put you into workspace 1. Try scrolling using commands or keybinds. Confirm that it doesn't work.
  5. Switch to another persistent workspace.
  6. Switch back to workspace 1. Try scrolling. Confirm that scrolling only works for workspace 1 and the workspace you've just visited.
  7. Restart Hyprland session again. Confirm that scrolling doesn't work.
  8. Optionally use the following workaround to "initialize" workspaces at start (I should probably make a script instead of hardcoding these):
    exec-once = hyprctl dispatch workspace 2 && hyprctl dispatch workspace 3 && hyprctl dispatch workspace 4 && hyprctl dispatch workspace 5 && hyprctl dispatch workspace 6 && hyprctl dispatch workspace 1

Reproduced this on v0.42.0 as well
