1 month ago I've got the exact same issue, and it's the same as #7230 seemingly. From what I can tell it's an explicit sync issue, and render:explicit_sync_kms=0 mitigates it.
I've tried both open and closed NVIDIA kernel mode drivers, overlaying latest egl-wayland, various different versions of freshly compiled hyprland - nothing works aside from entirely disabling explicit sync.
With more than one monitor it freezes after maybe 15 seconds with no clear error, and with only one monitor it works absolutely fine.
4769163 might be the issue which has been fixed by nvidia and will be in the next driver, though I'm not entirely sure.

1 month ago Phew, sorry that took so long, sddm kept crashing on boot for who knows why and since hyprland was dead I couldn't easily get a desktop to upload this lol.
This was booted with
render.explicit_sync = 1;
render.explicit_sync_kms = 0;Then after it was settled I loaded vscode and set render.explicit_sync_kms = 1; and it froze soon thereafter. Exited with the kill combo and this is the resulting log.
As a note, each monitor freezes individually. Once the primary one is frozen I can move the mouse over to another monitor and see it for a little bit, then it freezes too.

1 month ago I see you on nvidia. IIRC lockups are an nvidia bug in 560 beta (which can be mitigated by kms off)

1 month ago Alright, so it's just a case of waiting for the next beta and hoping they've fixed it?
The main reason I've been trying to get it to work is I still get flickering in VSCode, and Obsidian and Discord both are super laggy when typing. I figured explicit sync might be the fix, afaik that should've been fixed with egl-wayland's new version and/or ELECTRON_OZONE_PLATFORM_HINT,auto, but it didn't seem to help single monitor so there's definitely something funky going on.

3 weeks ago I'm running Hyprland on NixOS unstable with an AMD GPU and I'm having the same issue. In my case, when it freezes, I can't get to a TTY and I have to hold the power button to force shutdown. If explicit_sync is not set to 1, the desktop freezes. explicit_sync_kms=0 has no effect. If the second monitor is plugged in and turned on, Hyprland freezes. If the second monitor is plugged in, but turned off, hyprland works, and I can move windows between the screens, but the moment I turn it on, it freezes. It doesn't produce a crash log it seems, should I attach a normal log? Sorry if something is wrong, I'm not used to reporting issues and english is not my first language.

When trying to file a new issue, it tells you to run hyprctl systeminfo -c to get config info about the system.
I think journalctl -b1 provides logs from your last boot, but they're quite verbose and do contain your linux account username and network hostname.

3 weeks ago I had the same issue when I updated to 0.42.0, and setting render:explicit_sync_kms=0 fixed the issue for me.

3 weeks ago I can vouch for this as well, after Hyprland stable on Arch upgraded to 0.42.0, setting render:explicit_sync_kms=0 also fixed it for me.
I tried both nvidia-beta-dkms and nvidia-open-beta-dkms, both had the same issue.
Here is a journalctl where I did the following:

3 weeks ago check with aq-git hl-git and the nvidia 560.35.03 , both aq/hl has recieved a monitor commit that fixed a lot of causes for crashes and blanking monitors. nvidia driver also recieved a important dual monitor freeze issue

Entire desktop freezes when a second monitor is connected. Switching to a different TTY takes about 15 seconds of delay until it actually occurs.
It doesn't necessarily have to be at startup, but I have noticed that Hyprland will crash if a second monitor is connected at ANY time.
How to reproduce
Step 1. Launch Hyprland with more than one monitor connected (I launched it via SDDM) Step 2. Freeze.
