Backspacing into placeholder breaks it

1. create a post
2. add a component (map in this example)
3. start to add some text, then backspace and delete the text until the cursor jumps back inside the placeholder
4. check text area, placeholder broken

I wonder if we can prevent a backspace into a placeholder completely?

I was able to replicate this in ASE 1.6.
