Hi @hzeller this is a great tool! Did you know that there's a community that's very interested in using your tool for a really wonderful purpose. Lots of children are born with a partial hand (a palm but no fingers). For most of them a prosthetic device is too costly, especially given that they quickly outgrow it. A 3D printable version can be made for under $50.

The enablingthefuture.org community is providing 3D printable design files, 3D printing services and lots of tips and tricks. Image based information retrieval tools can be important for this, e.g. see this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SJxqFE5bDM

Anyway, a feature that I'd like to see (if you don't have the time to develop it, someone else might) is the ability to scale the image down (like a zoom out). If you have a high-res photo the scaling isn't great to see the 'bigger picture'...

FYI I've just started hosting a version of augenmass here, where we also host a front-end for OpenSCAD: https://e-nable.youmagine.com/measure

I'd like to customize it to fit into this wizard like interface as a step in the process.

Nice use-case! I haven't touched Augenmass in a while, as it is doing its job for most things I do, but I agree that zooming would be a nice feature. I will have a look next time I do improvements. I also accept pull-requests of course (hint, hint).

@hzeller I can see if I get around to it or that possibly one of the developers at YouMagine can work on this! It's defintely worth it to base this application of of your excellent start. The UI for measuring and callibration is really good.
