I'm on a Raspberry Pi with a USB soundcard and I'd like to stream to that card. There is no pulseaudio, I'm using ALSA for mpd and omxplayer.

aplay -L yields:

null
Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)

What options do I have to give to gstout-audiosink and gstout-audiodevice? I've been getting Couldn't create sink for whatever I've tried.

On my RPi3 I don't have to specify a sink because the sysdefault works fine.

Are you running with a graphical environment? Does anything change if you run as root vs user? Can you play files successfully with aplay?

The post is from half a year ago and I don't even own that Pi anymore. I'll close the issue.
