I was once reaching out to Ivo Clarysse via Savannah when I wanted to submit patches in the early days, but didn't get any response, probably he was not using that platform anymore - so I started this fork. I think this is the same Ivo Clarysse who is now CTO of Scanadu that was in the news recently ("Medical Tricoder"). So -- he might really be busy with other stuff nowadays, but at least it should be possible to find an email address, contact him and and ask him about having a link in the original website pointing to the new place, and renaming this fork. (Now that the fork is working fairly well, it is probably time to contact him about that.)
So, does anyone want to pick up this task of getting the details worked out while I work on the coding part ?
It probably makes sense for packagers for linux distributions to now pick up this version and just call it 'gmediarender'.
I tried the following email addresses: soggie at riv.be, soggie at soti.org, soggie at iguana.be, soggie at starlab.net - two of the servers don't exist anymore, the other two don't know the user anymore.
Now I contacted info at scanadu.com; maybe they will answer.
I have noticed on LinkedIn, that Ivo is now living in the same city as I do. Let's see if I can reach out to him that way.
Scanadu did not answer. But it seems he isn't there anymore. A public LinkedIn page says he was there "previously": https://www.linkedin.com/pub/dir/+/Clarysse/us-0-United-States/
Also http://stackoverflow.com/users/5937093/ivo-clarysse I asked bcdevices.com by now.
hzeller has done a great job bringing functionality to this and it has far surpassed the original gmrender. There appears to be no support for the original attempt. How do we get this defined as the 'default' gmediarender package? Same issue with daapd and forked_daapd, btw... Curious as to the protocol.
