Changing IFF signatures to be more decsriptive #9

Open fallowmar opened 2 years ago

Certain IFF signatures, like Cal Johnston, Marauders, and Angels come up as XXXXX in the contacts list. I see no reason for this to be strictly necessary.

I have created a simple text fix that changes Cal's IFF to JOHNS, Marauders IFF to UNKWN, and Angels to ANGEL.

On the other hand: I always attributed certain immersion for "pirates" (Cal & crew being one) coming up as XXXXX. Headcanon about hacked transponders and such. Then again, some of the larger criminal organisations (carva cartel comes to mind) show up as descriptive indeed. And what the heck are the Outlaws, and why are they OUTLWS?

So, bit of mixed feelings on this one. Maybe change outlaws, carva etc. to XXXXX instead? 😄

So the problem I have with that is that all of these IFF's actually say the real IFF holder in the "Long" name that comes up in the multifunction display.

Cal's ships: Cal Johnston Marauders: Unknown Angels: Angels OUTLW: Outlaws CARVA: Carva Cartel

What i'm trying to do is make the short IFF signal match the long IFF signal, and help with recognition for players. XXXXX seems like some weird hacked together thing that wouldn't be allowed on an actual IFF registry, vs "Unknown" for marauders meaning that they don't have proper IFF authentication
