Need more assistance (more action-suggesting error messages) with `check_in` #6

check-in and goo complaining.

When committing manually, get this:

Untracked files:
    .github/
    .gitignore

Perhaps populate should add .github to gitignore? Perhaps check_in should do something about this (like ignore gitignore not added message, and/or add .github, or something sensible).
