DIR-3040 WiFi Setting #11

Hi @i3roly, how are you?

After some tests, device is working good, I get some problens like freeze or device say "not have internet" but I will try get dmesg log if this occur again.

For now, you know how set Wireless Rate?

When Rate is 1734 Mbit/s all works very good and 5G works in all my house using my Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro with 866mb wireless speed without changes. And sometimes and I not know why but the Rate is Auto and my Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro only get 866mb when is close to the router.

Very thanks for all friend ;D

i3roly commented 2 years ago

Need logs man.

Try to get them before any freeze. Not sure why it would freeze...

Also not sure about the 'not have internet' part either. You're going to need to give me logs.

Could be an isolated incident.

I'm not sure about the rate thing. I know sometimes it says auto but I didn't test that too much.

Wireless rate is determine by channel width and frequency.

About Rate I will try set frequency manually to check. About freeze I will try get log if freeze again.

But for now I get again the problem of "not have internet". I checked my WAN and is in DHCP Mode and when I click in DHCP Renew I get this output:

When I restart DIR-3040 all is OK again:

i3roly commented 2 years ago

Lol that has nothing to do with my build but probably your dns settings. I'm no dns pro and I don't use that, but it seems to me that there may be issues using a foreign dns provider sometimes. I have never had that issue

Hmmm but the problem not is internet or DNS. I'm using DIR-3040 connected by WAN to my primary router, so the WAN IP received it's internal on my network. DIR-3040 is losing functionality in WAN port.

i3roly commented 2 years ago

Like I said I'm not a network pro BUT you're using a foreign dns on your internal network from one router to another. I am certain it's not the build. I haven't touched anything in ddwrt related to this stuff...

From what you're showing it seems the problem is the lease isn't renewing. I have no idea why. The only reason I can think of is dns settings.

On my normal setup I'd notice this because I'd have no Internet. It has to be something to do with the two router setup. Did stock Fw work fine? If so, even less ideas haha

Yes, stock is OK I'm use as the same way before change and used a mikrotik too as the same way. When problem not occurs, the DHCP Release and DHCP Renew works 100% on WAN using this config. I never see this problem too.

i3roly commented 2 years ago

that lease time looks wrong though

with my WAN connected to the modem, i am always getting a lease time.

sounds to me you need to configure or figure out why that lease time is zero. it should never be zero because that's when it should be renewed.

i bet the stock fw did something to address this. you're the first person to report this problem.

i3roly commented 2 years ago

also, is your dhcp start configured to 3? i think by default the dhcp start value is much higher (64?)

leandrotsampa commented 2 years ago

No, my DHCP on router internet start from 2, but I'm using mikrotik on 2. My planing is replace mikrotik by dir-3040. About release time probably is because in internet router i marked this dir-3040 to not change IP.

Normally people use provider router as bridge and the private router as a WAN - PPPoE. In my cause I only put in provider router my internal router in DMZ mode.

leandrotsampa commented 2 years ago

I think i found the problem. I get the same problem, so I find, copy command line and kill udhcpc. After that I run again udhcpc with the command line and WAN back to work.

The problem now is know why stoped working and how fix.

i3roly commented 2 years ago

it may have to do with syntax differences in the bash script /etc/cidrroute.sh between busybox and glibc-based bash, but i cna't say for sure.

but i do know this file is called when it moves from an unbound to a bound state. try to play with that script and let me know, because it is probably the only possible issue.

leandrotsampa commented 2 years ago

Thanks I will try. I noted that when remove WAN cable the DD-WRT no detect or not update status :D

You have command to disable LED? I want create a CRON tab to disable LED after 1h

i3roly commented 2 years ago

no, it only turns off if you turn off the radios. you can turn of all 3 radios by holding the button at the front.

i am not going to add that feature either, lol. sorry

leandrotsampa commented 2 years ago

Hi @i3roly, I still have problem with WAN Port :/ I already know the port and cable is OK. I tested WAN with Static IP and after a while stops too, no error no log and DD-WRT show IP like nothing have changed and it's the same when WAN in in DHCP Mode.

I noticed that the WAN port is as vlan2, can you activate the Setup - VLANs in DD-WRT? Very thanks

i3roly commented 2 years ago

Not possible for it to be the WAN in DHCP Mode. I'm using wan in DHCP Mode and i'm fine. You really don't think someone else wouldn't have opened a ticket about this by now? Sorry dude you may be best off going back to stock.

Ok, but you can enable Setup -VLANs? For now I changed WAN to eth3 to test.

i3roly commented 2 years ago

No because VLANs aren't setup like that.

You need to use the switch program to configure your vlan ports and then add this interface using vconfig.

The stock firmware is the same way but may let you configure them. I don't care about this feature enough to write the httpd code necessary.
