Anita Tiller, Botanist, atiller@hcp4.net

Anita Tiller is the contact for this herbarium listed on IH; she is also the contact at MERCA where the collections has been transferred (see below)

Updated July 2017 (general update). SBSC is a facility of Spring Branch Independent School District. In October 2016, the SBSC herbarium, botanical library and illustration collections were transferred to the Mercer Botanic Gardens as a long-term loan. Physical transfer of the SBSC collections was completed spring 2017 and the collections are available to researchers. Digitization of the SBSC collections is underway. Mercer Botanic Gardens provides citizen scientist training programs including the Texas Gulf Coast Gardener, Texas Master Gardener and Texas Master Naturalist, Texas Invaders and RBG Kew Millennium Seed Bank Training programs. The MERCA and SBSC herbarium collections support these education programs and facilitate training of herbarium volunteers. Mercer Botanic Gardens is a participating institution of The Center for Plant Conservation (headquartered at San Diego Zoo Global); is an affiliate of Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center; and is a member of the American Public Gardens Association and Botanic Gardens Conservation International.
