Using dat for version control instead of git #58

This is a question, and not a suggestion. I would like to raise the attention of this tool:

https://github.com/maxogden/dat - http://dat-data.com

It looks like a very useful tool for exactly what we want to achieve. However: I'm not sure what to use it for and whether it will raise the bar for potential contributors to do something.

i prefer git. I think we lose contributors by changing to dat.

Closing: I've talked with the core contributors of dat who agreed that if the git workflow works, we should stay using git for now.

to clarify --

it seems like you're really dealing with time series data, which is a great use case in general but we haven't thought a lot about it with dat quite yet.

dat could be really great at the point of collaborating and sharing your data if the data gets a little bit too unwieldily for git.
