I have seen suggestions the ROS2 community is moving away from Gazebo to using Ignition for ROS2 Galactic.

Is Ignition support in the plan for create3sim?

It is not on our current roadmap, though we may re-evaluate that in the future. Turtlebot4 will be released with an Ignition simulation and is using elements of this sim for its Create3 base implementation. I would assume elements of the Turtlebot4 sensor stack that you aren't using can be removed from the model in that simulator to turn it into a Create3 base Ignition sim. I'm not sure what the release date of that simulator is.
